10 Steps to shaping your virtual project

Everything is virtual these days and we have been supporting many of our partners to pivot their projects to an online platform. We hope these 10 steps help you shape your virtual project and, if you're then ready to take your project to the next level we can help you with further training.

We hope our #VIRTUALPROJEC10 step journey supports and inspires you to virtually reach to those who need it most during this time.

01 ‘Ask your beneficiaries what they most need’

> LISTEN to their voice

> LEARN from them

> LOVE & reassure them

> use their LANGUAGE

02 'Explore what is already happening, and what gaps there are in your community

> Perhaps there is something that had to stop which you could revitalise?

> Maybe you find a gap and start something new

03 ‘Research which online platforms your beneficiaries are most active on already’ Social media is the perfect place to reach your beneficiaries, virtually in a non-confrontational way.

> Tiktok ?

> Youtube ?

> Snapchat ?

> Instagram ?

> Twitter ?

> Facebook ?

> Other ?

Which platform do you think will be most popular with your target audience?

04 Select the platforms you can realistically manage:

> Learn how to use the platform/s you choose

> Many platforms work together so it’s easy to share content between them.

> Put most of your efforts into the platform the majority of your beneficiaries are already using

05 Consider your beneficiaries' availability: time, schedules, and how are they most likely to respond to support:

> Ask beneficiaries what times they are online

> Create a schedule for when you engage

> Be consistent

06 Engage your wider team in online delivery:

> Encourage creativity

> Ask for quotes

> Develop relevant resources

> Plan live videos

> Write topical blogs

> Respond to current affairs

> Ensure you offer sign-posting

07 Focus on one intervention at a time:

> Don't spread your service too thin

> Ensure you set realistic expectations for yourself

> Ensure your messaging is clear and what you are offering

08 Be consistent, whether it's posting daily, running weekly podcasts, or delivering a weekly session:

> Remain active and present

> Create a plan

> Create content a month in advance

> Schedule posts

> Ask questions

> Always have a call to action

09 Feedback: monitor and review your virtual project weekly and more throughly at the end of each month.

> Measure and track your analytics through each platform setting’s

> Throw more energy into the platform which receives the most engagement

> Consider why your platform might be under performing and shift your strategy.

> Ask for feedback

10 'Adapt around your beneficiaries' changing needs'

> The strongest services are the ones that keep evolving: ’There is no standing still, because time is moving forward'

Look back to Day 01 and consider these points:

> LISTEN to their voice

> LEARN from them

> LOVE & reassure them

> use their LANGUAGE

Respond to what you hear and remain flexible in your delivery to suit the needs of your beneficiaries.

We hope our #VIRTUALPROJECT10 journey has inspired you to reach those who need it most during this time.⠀
